My first solar image with a webcam - Apr. 13, 2004

Setup: Coronado SM60/BF10 H-alpha filter, Borg 100ED F6.4, IR reject filter, ToUcam web camera (1.8 "/pixel), Takahashi EM-10 mount (here's how this setup looks).

Webcam settings: 1/1500 sec, 5 FPS, brightness=100%, gamma=10%, b&w mode=ON, standard mode (not 'color optimized non-raw'), 640x480 pixels

Processing: Registax, Mira6, Photoshop7.

This was my first session with the ToUcam, at this time the camera was unmodified (i.e. it automatically did some image compression) and was controlled through K3CCDtools. The image above is a mosaic of two frames. For each frame I took two minutes of data (~600 images). Of these the sharpest ~5% were selected, registered and stacked using Registax. This sharpness of these images is much better than I have acheived using the much more expensive ST10XE!

Here's my main page where you can see more of the pictures I have taken so far.
