Venus solar transit - June 8, 2004

Setup: Coronado SM60/BF10 H-alpha filter, Borg 100ED F6.4, IR reject filter, ToUcam web camera (1.8 "/pixel), Takahashi EM-10 mount (here's how this setup looks).

Webcam settings: CONR mode, 1/2500 sec on disc, 1/100 sec on prominences, 5 FPS, brightness=100%, gamma=10% (50% for background/prominences), b&w mode=ON, 640x480 pixels

Processing: K3CCDtools (average of 4 sharpest images from 45 sec sequences), Mira6 (scaling), Photoshop7 (curves, levels, filters, mosaic).

In total I acquired ~19800 images. Of these ~11000 were free of clouds. A total of 56 images were selected for best seeing, aligned and stacked to produce the 5 individual images of the event shown here. The seeing got worse as the transit progressed, hence only the ingress and an image from mid-transit has been included.

Here's my main page where you can see more of the pictures I have taken so far.
